Friendship, Morality and Brotherly Love.
Faith, Hope and Love. These are
wonderful words found in the Ahiman Rezon and the Holy Bible and the
principle tenants of our profession. Think of how much better this
world would be if all mankind held these beliefs. Don’t you think
life would be calm, less stressful and more pleasant?
You have
elected me as Worshipful Master for 2003 and I sincerely thank you for the
opportunity to serve you and Walden Lodge. Together we can and will
accomplish many great tasks.
Our Regular Communication in January
was attended by twenty-five (25) brothers, give or take a couple, which
was a great start to the New Year. The number of officers and
brothers in attendance at the Instructional Meeting on January 16, 2003,
was greater than any other lodge represented. Good work,
guys!
I made a plea at the January meeting to increase
membership. I challenge you to invite an old friend or two, and make
it a personal goal to call one or more brothers each month and invite them
to attend lodge.
I have ideas to present to the craft this year,
but will not take time now to list them. I will present them at
business meetings and briefly in the Plumbline when it is appropriate to
do so. Please know that I am always open for new ideas, old ideas,
and criticism. Let me know what you are thinking. Help me to
continue to make Walden Lodge one of the premier lodges of the State of
South Carolina.
I fraternally invite you to our Regular
Communication on February 6, 2003, and to our Entered Apprentice Degree,
which we hope to have on February 20, 2003.
Fraternally,
Lawrence W. Crane Worshipful
Master
From The Secretary’s
Desk:
Walden Lodge
completed year 2002 with a membership of 479. This was a net loss of
31 members. Sixteen brothers were erased NPD and one demitted, while
death took its toll of twenty brothers. Two brethren were reinstated
during the year, three brethren were raised and we had one affiliation
(dual member). Brethren, the Grand Lodge now has in place a
Perpetual Life Membership program. If you desire more information on
it, please contact the Secretary or one of the other lodge officers.
The lodge continues to solicit contributions for the Benevolent,
Penny-A-Day and Endowment funds. If you desire to give to one of
these funds, you may do so by sending it to P. O. Box 274, Greenville, SC
29602. For those who have already made a contribution, the lodge
thanks you. Remember, “It is YOUR lodge.”
Brethren, I
encourage each of you who has not attended a lodge Memorial Service to do
so by attending our February Meeting. Wor. Bro. Charles F. Pridmore
does an outstanding job of remembering those who have passed to the
Celestial Lodge Above.
