Message from the East
July, 2003

Dear Brethren:
The sun is shining hot and the temperature is hovering around ninety degrees in the middle of July as I write this letter to you.  I hope that everyone is having a great summer and that things are going well for you and your family.

It has been reported to me that some of our members are ill, some of our members have lost loved ones, and some of our members have celebrated joyous occasions during the past several weeks.  I am always eager to hear the highs and lows experienced by the brothers and if there is ever anything that I can do for you or oher members of the fraternity, please don't hesitate to contact me.

This Plumbline will serve as the Plumbline for the months of July, August, and September.  The next Plumbline will not be printed until the end of September.  I have attempted to have this Plumbline printed and mailed in sufficient time to let all the brethren know of some upcoming events.  Although we are dark during the months of July and August, please be reminded that members of Walden Lodge, along with their families and friends, plan on meeting at Greenville Braves Memorial Stadium on Thursday, August 7th at 7:00 p.m. to attend the Greenville Braves baseball game.  Everyone is invited and I look forward to seeing you on that evening.  Tickets will cost between $4.00 and $5.00 if we have enough members and guests present.

The lodge will reconvene for the fall on Thursday, September 4, 2003 at 6:30 p.m. when dinner will be served followed by the meeting at 7:30.  Walden Lodge has two petitions which have been approved and voted on for admission into our fraternity and the first degree is currently scheduled for September 18, 2003 beginning at 6:30 for dinner followed by the degree work.  Please mark these dates on your calendar and plan on attending and bringing a fellow mason with you.

I hope all of you have had an opportunity to spend time with families and friends during the summer season and have been able to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday activities and relax for a period of time while on vacation, however short it might be.  I look forward to seeing all of you on August 7th at Greenville Braves Memorial Stadium and wish you all a pleasant summer.
Fraternally yours,

Lawrence W. Crane
Worshipful Master
