| September 2005 Plumbline, Walden Lodge No. 274
My brothers all: Hopefully, you have all had a good summer. It will be especially good to see as many as possible on Thursday, September 1, 2005 at our next regular communication meeting. Our Deputy Grand Master, Right Worshipful Bro. Gerald “Jerry” L. Carver and our District Deputy Grand Master, Right Worshipful Bro. William “Bill” Rogers, will be present. We are pleased to have them both at Walden. Make it a point to be there to show your support. July was a special month for me as I completed work and moved back to Greenville. More especially of note was that my father-in-law (a 55 year Mason) passed to that house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Without going into detail regarding the great inspiration this man was to me, I would like to make a comment about Masonic Rites. Roseboro Lodge No. 195, Whitmire, SC, was called upon to conduct the graveside Masonic Rites. I would certainly like to say that the brethren at Roseboro did an outstanding job. The work was done well and there was a good showing of brethren, many of whom I knew. My brothers, I’ve never been on receiving side of this noble ritual. This duty of ours, Masonic Rites, really meant a lot to me personally and to the family at Mr. Gregory’s funeral. As we are able to attend other funerals where Masonic Rites are given, it is important that we do so. To perform this responsibility well, is a real comfort at a very special time. I can now say this from personal experience. Plans are now being formulated for several events during the remainder of the year. Watch your Plumbline and attend the September meeting. Chick Davis, Junior Warden, promises a “home cooked” meal, courtesy of his wife! You will not want to miss this treat. Please don’t forget to visit Walden Lodge #274 on the internet. Greetings Brothers, I look forward to welcoming you back after our usual summer break and enjoy the fellowship of the fraternity with you. Time seems to speed up for the lodge after our summer break. There will only be four meetings left this year! Time, who waits for no man, certainly marches on! To that end, I am going to ask for my fellow committee members for the Centennial committee to come with your calendar in hand so that we may schedule two more meetings before the end of this year. I would like to follow up with what we started at our inaugural meeting and set an agenda going forward into 2006. I am again extending an invitation to our members to please see your committee members if you have an old photos, or memorabilia that you would be willing to donate to the lodge for our centennial celebration. Brothers, I am honored to have served you this year as your Senior Warden and look forward to the next 4 months as I know they will pass quickly. I look forward to meeting with you “on the level”. Sincerely, and fraternally Chris Grantham Senior Warden
