April 2006 Plumbline, Walden Lodge No. 274
Greetings Brothers, Let me extend a warm welcome to the newest member of Walden Lodge, Bro. Stutts Armstrong. Your officers did a wonderful job in the third degree, and WB Jim Humphries did his usual excellent job in the Third Degree lecture. There are a number of petitions out currently and I look forward to welcoming as many as five new men into our fine fraternity. During our business meeting in March, the generosity and benevolence of the lodge was once again demonstrated. Walden lodge and the members have sponsored special needs children to attend a learning experience in Charleston in the coming weeks. These children would not have been able to attend without our members reaching deep in to their pockets, led by their hearts. My brothers, I wish to say thank you for once again showing how good it is to be a Mason. Remember to mark your calendar for the meeting on April 6th! While your calendar is in your hand, highlight the 4th of May. WB Jim Forrester, one of our fine members, and the Commander of the 16th South Carolina Volunteers Camp 36, Sons of Confederate Veterans (how’s that for a title?), will be giving a talk on the South Carolina Museum and Library of Confederate History. I will be posting on our web site (www.waldenlodge274afm.org) news that may occur before the next issue of the Plumb Line, so please look there for updates as they become available. You can go to the calendar link there to see events that are scheduled for your lodge. I look forward to meeting with you, and serving the craft. Sincerely, and fraternally, Chris Grantham Worshipful Master “They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety” – Benjamin Franklin
My Brothers, I bring you Tidings from the South. It was great to see everybody at the March communication. Feedback on Cateran’s Buffet Restaurant has been very much on the positive side. The folks at Cateran’s buy advertising space in our calendar. It seems only fitting that we reward them with our patronage. I want to take this opportunity to recognize one of my Stewards, Mr. Steve Johnson. Due to my very hectic schedule, I have called on Steve several times to assist me in picking up the meal and bringing it to the lodge. And while he and Hal are always there to assist me in putting out the meal and cleaning it up, Steve has gone the extra mile to help me, serve you. So a special thanks to, Steve Johnson! Brothers, until we meet again, take care and God Bless. Sincerely yours Bernie Wilber Junior Warden
