December 2006 Plumbline, Walden Lodge No. 274
Greetings Brothers, This will be my final article for the Plumb Line as the Master of your lodge. I have enjoyed my year serving you and the craft and hope that my stewardship has met with your approval. We have had a wonderful year in the lodge and I have had a chance to meet with a number of you and cannot express how much I have enjoyed it. As we continue to travel on that level of time to that undiscovered country, your lodge will elect a new leadership for 2008. Our business meeting on December 7th will be election night. This will be an open installation of officers for Walden Lodge so please ask your ladies to attend. I would also like to remind you that we will have our annual Christmas party on December 10th at the lodge, and I have a very reliable source who tells me that St. Nick will be in attendance. I will end simply by saying thank you to my officers and to the members who have supported me, guided me, and whispered words of good counsel when needed. Without your friendship and guidance I would have foundered early in my term. There are a number of past masters who have helped me this year. I would like to thank you all for providing me with the benefit of your wisdom. I would also like to pass along my thanks to PM Al Geddie. Although he has laid down his working tools and gone to the celestial lodge above, we had numerous conversations while I was going through the chairs. His advice I have strived to heed. Thank you Al, I miss you. There isn’t room enough here to thank all of you personally so I will say again, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sincerely, and fraternally,
Chris Grantham Worshipful Master “They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety” – Benjamin Franklin
Tidings from the West As we approach the Holiday Season and the anticipation of gathering families, we are filled with good memories of times gone by. I have great memories of past Holidays with my wife and son, and I am now building memories with my 3 grand children. We are also reminded of our faith, we are reminded that God gave us our greatest gift; the birth of His son. May His blessings and love be with you and your family during the Holiday’s. I would like to thank WB Chris Grantham for his leadership, care and concern for our Lodge and the Craft. Another successful year for Walden Lodge is about to close and a new one to begin. Please join me in thanking him for a wonderful job well done. By now you should have received your dues notice for the upcoming year. It’s a unique privilege to be a Mason, and that comes with a very small fee. There is also the matter of the “Penny-a-day” club. This is very important to our Lodge. It is with this money that we help a troubled Brother, their widows and orphans’. Please give generously, as our funds this year have had great demands put on them and are dangerously low. If you could make it a “nickel-a-day” or perhaps a “dime-a-day”, this would help your Lodge and Brothers to continue to fight the hard times that some still face. Thank you all for your continued support of the Craft and Waldon Lodge in particular. I look forward to seeing you next year. Fraternally,
Chick Davis Senior Warden
